NCOSS Annual Report
It was such a honour that my artwork was chosen for the NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) Annual Report.
This artwork was inspired by community and self-determination. I have included the description below along with the artwork and link to the Annual report.
Self-determination is incredibly important to me and my community. It's about reclaiming our right to decide our future, while honouring the strength of our communities.
After the recent passing of my sister, my art became a way to heal, and this piece reflects that journey of resilience and empowerment.
In this artwork, the circles represent our communities - places of gathering, sharing, and support. The people surrounding each circle symbolise the strength we draw from one another as we come together, united in our purpose. The ripple effect of dots flowing outward shows how every act of community and self-determination creates lasting impacts for future generations. The darker blues represent moments of hardship and grief, while the vibrant colours signify hope, strength, and the determination to move forward.
Self-determination is about communities rising together, drawing on our shared stories and memories to shape our futures. It's about standing together, reclaiming our voices, and ensuring that the decisions we make today will continue to empower our people for generations to come. This artwork is a reflection of that ongoing journey, with each circle representing the power and unity found in community.
